Artist Michael Mercil was engaged in 1993 to design the detailing of this 1100-foot span over a roadway and abandoned railway line in the central city.  The bridge’s railing patterns and abutment text recall the history of railroads and visualize a train rhythm for thousands of daily motorists, bikers and pedestrians.
