Design by artist Philip Rickey and City landscape architect Jody Martinez, ASLA
A prospect overlooking the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers and historic Fort Snelling provides vista, amenity and lessons in history. Initiated by the Highland District Council with funding from the federal scenic byways program, Saint Paul STAR and Joseph and Jane Micallef, the project was completed in 2004. Rickey carved limestone sentinels and seating and created interpretive elements that map and tell the story of this compelling place.
