In 2010, Public Art Saint Paul worked with photographer Wing Young Huie to produce the University Avenue Project: The Language of Urbanism, a six-mile-long public art exhibit. From May through October of 2010, 250 images were displayed in 80 storefront windows along University Avenue, punctuated by large-scale murals on the exteriors of major buildings. At night, an empty lot was transformed into an outdoor viewing space for a slideshow of 450 images, accompanied by a soundtrack of local musicians. The Minnesota Historical Society published a two-volume book documenting the temporary exhibit. The books are available on Amazon.com and in local book stores, and can be ordered from the Historical Society or Public Art Saint Paul.
