Earth day in Saint Paul is an annual day of wishing and promising that gathers over 2,000 people to Harriet Island Park.  Amid a rich soundscape, people write wishes on swallow-shaped pastel kites and fly them over this parkland on the Mississippi River.  At river’s edge, people make promises to the earth. Led by resident artist Marcus Young in collaboration with calligrapher Shen Pei, composer Mary Ellen Childs, architect Peter Kramer and over 30 other artists and team members, Wishes is a leader in sustainable event production, with only 12 pounds of trash left behind.
